The Hunger Games Review

Don't know what has taken me so long to write a review but here it is!
First off, if you haven't seen the trailer, watch it now!
I am only through the second book, but I cannot wait any longer to express how I feel about this series!
I'M OBSESSED! Like watching the trailer everyday obsessed!
If you don't want to read this book because it is being compared to Twilight, well those accusations are completely inaccurate!
The Hunger Games is about North America in the future, later becoming Panem, made up of 13 districts, all specializing in something that contributes to the economy (seafood, coal, electronics, etc), which are all under the control of the Capitol. Long ago the 13 districts tried to overthrow the Capitol. In result, district 13 was completely demolished and the Capitol started the Hunger Games, in which a boy and a girl from the ages of 12-18 from each district are chosen at random to compete it. The Hunger Games being a "survival of the fittest" or "fight to the death" in an arena the Capitol creates. Only one survives.
Furthermore, the protagonist is Katniss, an 18 year old girl from district 12.

This book is not corny or overly dramatic like Twilight. Instead, it's almost put in a realistic sense. We would never have these games but Suzanne Collins makes all the futuristic situations seem like it's in the present. So well written and so easy to follow.

I can't really express how much I love this book without going more into the plot, so just know IT'S AMAZING! I recommend reading it to everyone but if you do, give yourself a day or two of open time because you will not be able to put it down!
